: The Time Behind the Scarf
I experienced the scarf only after it was finished, so I could not directly describe the months he spent learning how to knit, making mistakes, and starting again. I asked him to explain that process in his own words.
In this short recording, he describes why he chose to make the scarf, what made the beginning difficult, and why he continued even after several failed attempts. His voice adds a part of the story that I did not personally witness.
This recording adds the maker’s perspective to the story. It explains the work that took place before I received the finished scarf and shows why the object became meaningful to both of us. The selected recording is included with his permission.
