The Making

Before making this scarf, my boyfriend had never knitted before. He decided to learn because I had often said that I wanted a scarf. Instead of buying one, he used YouTube videos to learn the basic techniques and began working with the reddish-orange yarn.

The process was not smooth. When the shape did not come out correctly, he unraveled the yarn and started again. He continued knitting during a family trip and worked on it during his exam period. From beginning to completion, the scarf took more than three months.

The finished scarf does not hide that process. Small differences in its texture show that it was made by someone who was learning. Those details now matter to me because they record the decisions to continue, correct mistakes, and try again.
